Scheeser Buckley Mayfield, LLC (SBM) is a nationally recognized engineering firm in northeastern Ohio, and has enjoyed steady growth for nearly 60 years.  The firm has enjoyed steady growth to approximately 40 employees in its Akron, Ohio office.  The firm specializes in infrastructure design (electrical, mechanical and telecommunications systems) for buildings and campuses. 

You will be contributing to the firm’s client relations and project opportunities by utilizing your business and marketing experience to perform, oversee, and support a variety of marketing and business development activities that promote awareness of our brand and services leading to increased growth of the company.

This position works closely with the SBM partners and existing marketing coordinator to identify business opportunities and develop content marketing for potential clients and responses to qualification/proposal requests.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with architects and other engineering firms as well as a wide variety of business owners. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and identifies critical criteria in RFPs, bids, and RFQ’s.
  • Identifies and/or creates technical content and positions it appropriately in customer-centered narrative responses.
  • Ensures accuracy and coordinates publishing of proposals, narratives and ancillary materials (e.g. tables, charts, graphics, etc.)
  • Edits and revises written pieces submitted by others.
  • Prepare for and/or participate in formal presentations such as project interviews.
  • Participates in training and education activities such as SMPS to maintain knowledge.
  • Share training by leading in-house seminars for key staff.
  • Coordinate activities and meetings to maintain existing clients.
  • Identify and follow up on new client relationships and projects for the company to pursue.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings and introductions.
  • Create strategic marketing initiatives and steer design of marketing materials.
  • Create and maintain the firm’s CRM database. Generate reports to assist with focus and feedback.
  • Develop, execute, ensure integrity, and track effectiveness of marketing initiatives including hard copy materials, company web page, social media, etc.
  • Monitor and recommend changes to the firm’s corporate branding to ensure consistency.
  • Stay ahead of technical, professional, and general industry trends.
  • Assist with proposal development (scopes of service, fees, sample projects, etc.) with engineers and marketing staff.
  • Develop path to evolve role into separate Business Development and Marketing staff positions and departments.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Architecture, Engineering or related field.

Experience with engineering or architectural design firms preferred and considered in proposed benefit package.

PCM, CPSM, CMMP or OMCP certification encouraged.

Excellent Communicator, both verbal and written

Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines

Intense attention to detail with accuracy and consistency

Highly proficient computer and software skills including data entry, management of CRM information, spreadsheet analysis, and desktop publishing.

Willingness to effectively delegate or outsource “gap skills” such as marketing materials, printing, promotions, etc.

Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of people

Strong presentation skills
